A statement alerting consumers to the situation was posted on the Chicken Channel’s nutrition and allergens page, and a dairy allergen note was added to the Grilled Nuggets page. The incident affected restaurants across the Chick-fil-A chain.

“We are actively working with the supplier to ensure this does not happen again and to ensure the allergen is removed,” the company said. “We understand and take seriously the trust our customers place in us to ensure their food is as they expect, and we apologize for this situation. Our priority is that our affected customers can enjoy these products again soon. »

Although the presence of dairy products does not matter to some consumers, it can be dangerous for allergy sufferers.

Kids With Food Allergies, a division of the nonprofit Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, announced the change on its Facebook page on Tuesday. Commenters on the Facebook post expressed dismay at the news, saying it further limited food options for allergy sufferers.

The CDC estimates that about 8% of American children have a food allergy, and a 2019 study found that more than 10% of American adults have at least one food allergy.
