Canada’s Biggest Butter Pie Festival Returns Near Toronto With Over 150,000 Treats

Canada’s biggest butter pie festival returns to Midland, Ontario this spring, full of even gooier goodness. There will be 200 different vendors selling this quintessential Canadian dessert along with other treats and merchandise.

You can visit Ontario’s Best Butter Pie Festival on June 11 at David Onley Park, Harborside Park and along King Street in downtown Midland. Professional and amateur bakers will compete to determine who has the best butter pie in the province.

The festival opens at 9 a.m. on June 11, with delicious pies to buy, outdoor performances, and different shops to browse. At the first Butter Pie Festival in 2013, they sold out all 10,000 pies by 11 a.m. They make and sell more butter pies each year, with between 150,000 and 200,000 of these treats available for sale this spring. You will also find other pastries.

Of course, you can expect plain butter, pecan, and raisin pies, but there will also be plenty of unique flavors to try. Try flavors like Skor, maple, bacon, s’mores, cheesecake, pumpkin and more! There will be vegan, gluten-free and nut-free options for those with food allergies.

The Best Butter Pies contest will take place throughout the day at 333 King Street. Judging of traditional pies begins at 10 a.m. followed by the Wild Style category around 1 p.m. The announcement of the winners is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. A race, the Butter Tart Trot is also in preparation and requires pre-registration. You bet there are pie stops along the way.
