Asthmatics in Scotland will benefit from an exceptional donation
Scottish asthma charity received financial boost
Scottish asthmatics should benefit from a generous donation.
A Scottish asthma charity is delighted to have received assets worth £ 255,138 with additional funds of £ 14,000 to continue to provide practical support to people with asthma across Scotland and, also, fund research on asthma.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation announced that the charity received assets and cash from the W Stuart Sutherland Trust. The foundation provides evidence-based health information, confidential advice and practical support to people with asthma, their families and their caregivers. The funds will have a significant impact on the charity’s goal of reaching more families with poorly controlled asthma across Scotland and allow the foundation to set up a project to support asthmatics living in the Highlands.
The generous act of philanthropy comes from the W Stuart Sutherland Trust, which was established “to advance treatment and research into asthma and other lung diseases in the Highland region and elsewhere in Scotland and the UK “.
The directors of W Stuart Sutherland Trust have made the difficult decision to liquidate the trust and transfer its assets worth £ 255,138 with additional funds of £ 14,000 to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation which has similar goals and objectives .
Asthma and Allergy Foundation trustees said the funds would be used to continue providing life-saving support to people with asthma across Scotland and that the charity would lead a project dedicated to managing the asthma for the benefit of people with asthma in the Highlands to fulfill the wishes of the late WS Sutherland.
During the announcement, Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, Executive Director of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, said: “It was a huge surprise when the initial letter came from the trustees of the WS Sutherland Trust, and I was delighted because their directors saw a perfect match between Asthma and Allergy Foundation and W Stuart Sutherland Trust ”.
Alpin Stewart, a director of W Stuart Sutherland Trust, said: “The directors have, for a number of years, struggled to stimulate applications to the trust as part of the objectives of the trust. They were therefore delighted to find that the goals of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation were more or less directly aligned with those set out in the will of the late Mr. Sutherland and the fact that the Foundation also operated in the north of Scotland made it more than the favorite charity when the directors made the decision to wind up the W Stuart Sutherland Trust ”.
Denis Pinto said: “As Trustees of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, we are delighted to have received the assets of WS Sutherland Trust. This greatly helps us ensure that our organization can continue to provide support services for people with asthma, especially children and young people across Scotland and their families.
