Asda meat products recalled due to undeclared allergens

The supermarket giants have issued a reminder for their maple pork belly slices.

The slice may contain undeclared wheat (gluten) and soy, making it a risk for people with certain allergies.

The impacted packs have an expiration date of October 29 and are 400g.

The advice of Food Standards Agency (FSA) says, “If you have purchased the above product and have a wheat or gluten allergy or intolerance and / or a soy allergy, do not eat it.”

“Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.”

He added: “Asda recalls Asda Maple Flavored Pork Belly Slices because they contain wheat (gluten) and soy which are not mentioned on the label.

“This means that the product is a possible health risk for anyone allergic or intolerant to wheat or gluten and / or a soy allergy.”

Point of sale notices will be displayed at all Asda stores that sell the product.

He will explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased the product.

Sometimes there will be a problem with a food item that means it shouldn’t be sold.

Then it can be “removed” (taken off the shelves) or “recalled” (when customers are asked to return the product).

Sometimes foods need to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because allergy labeling is missing or incorrect or if there is another risk of food allergy.
